Greetings from Mombasa. For those of you who read our Sunday devotional, it will be back again next week. Today we’re bringing you our very delayed ‘Mission Update’.
We’re sorry that the Autumn update is a little late which is due to various commitments here in Kenya. It has been an exciting few months since our return in August and we believe that God is opening doors for the ministry here.
We were so excited to receive two large donations since August and this has allowed us to continue working on the church building. We’re especially happy that we have finished the roof just before the rains arrive in Mombasa. You may remember that last year the church was completely flooded and this time round the weather men have been telling us that there will be extremely bad flooding due to the El Nino effect.
As well as the roof we are now beginning to build a permanent platform for the church as well as part of the floor.
We’re also delighted that Pastor Ann is now being sponsored for another twelve months. Ann has been a real blessing to the church here and is responsible for our youths and singles. We’re hoping for further funds so that she can get some training and develop her gifts.
Prayer Point: Please pray for the completion of the building. Please pray for Pastor Ann and the youth.
You may remember that earlier in the year we were appealing for one of our members who was in urgent need of a mastectomy. Well, we are happy to report that the operation went ahead and Purity is now going through chemotherapy. It’s early days but the doctor is very happy with her progress.
Prayer for Revival
One of the priorities for our church is praying and preaching towards revival. We are both convinced that a true God given revival is the only thing that can rescue the church here. Whilst we can’t report that revival has broken out, we can tell you that we have never seen such passion as we see today in some of our members to pray for revival. This is especially true amongst the women in our church.
Prayer Point: Please pray that this passion for revival will continue and that those that are only nominal believers will catch the fire as well.
We have been talking about the playgroup for several years but for some reason, the monthly budget of £250-£300 has not received sponsorship. This is the first step towards a larger vision for a school but without monthly support it cannot go ahead.
Prayer Point: Please pray for the playgroup to launch within the next twelve months.
Personal Needs and Updates
God has been so good to us this year. When we were at home in July, we attended a church meeting and after prayer Joyce received healing for arthritis in her knees. It has been so liberating as she had great difficulty walking and getting up and down stairs.
I (Sean) am currently battling sinus problem. Due to humidity and dust, this has become an ongoing problem which is particularly difficult when preaching.
We praise God that we’ve managed to meet our expenses every month, although it has often arrived one or two months after it was needed. It’s a mystery how it comes in but we’re glad that it does.
This month I submitted my papers in Nairobi. I have to do this every three years and it is a little stressful. However, I am grateful that it’s done and I await news of the outcome in January.
Prayer Point: Please pray for good health and healing, for a more stable stream of income and for favour with the authorities.
Finally, thank you so much for your ongoing prayer and support. It means so much to us.
Sean & Joyce
