How it all began
Joyce and I first met in the year 2000 when we were working with a church in Kenya, East Africa. As time went on our relationship deepened and in 2003 we were married in Mombasa.
The same year I met Joyce I arrived in Mombasa, in Kenya, to work with a local church for one year. I had visited Kenya a number of times as part of short term missions for Barnabas Outreach Trust. The plan was to spend one year getting to know the church and the country a bit better and then return home. Of course God often has very different plans to our own!
During this one year posting in Kenya, I was shocked to find the lack of discipleship in the churches. In fact I found that many churches were little more than businesses, preaching prosperity and exploiting people for money. People were like ‘sheep without a shepherd’ and as the year went on, I began to sense the call of God to begin a work in Kenya. After praying and seeking advice, a plan began to take shape and in early 2002, I settled in Kenya with the aim of starting a church
